Easy-BILAG

Easy-BILAG is novel template for recording BILAG-2004 disease activity assessments in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). It has been designed to assist clinicians complete disease activity assessments using the established instrument, the BILAG-2004 index, more quickly and accurately in routine clinical practice.

Easy-BILAG is novel template for recording BILAG-2004 disease activity assessments in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). It has been designed to assist clinicians complete disease activity assessments using the established instrument, the BILAG-2004 index, more quickly and accurately in routine clinical practice. Easy-BILAG unifies the glossary, case report form and scoring algorithms required for BILAG-2004 assessments into a single colour-coded document.

In a validation exercise of 10 case vignettes completed by 30 Rheumatology professionals, Easy-BILAG improved the scoring accuracy, speed, and inter-rater reliability of BILAG-2004 assessments compared with the standard format published BILAG-2004 proforma. As a result, this tool is now the format recommended by British Isles Lupus Assessment Group.

Easy-BILAG is accompanied by an optional ‘self-adjudication’ checklist to help end users verify correct use. An Essential Guide to BILAG-2004 scoring as well as the workbook of cases used in the Easy-BILAG validation exercise are also made available on this platform for educational and training purposes.

  • Licence: Free of charge for academic/research use only (i.e. strictly non-commercial purposes).

  • Eligibility: Academic/research licences are only granted to individuals affiliated with a university or recognised research institution.
