Training for Medical Emergencies in Dental Practices

A quick reference guide developed by the Leeds Dental Institute Medical Emergencies (ME) Steering Group to support dental practitioners in both the clinical area and during medical emergency training. The guide reflects current clinical practice guidance which has been tailored to a dental context and forms a core strand to the Leeds Dental Institute ME standard. The guide covers the ABCDE approach, acute cardiac ischaemia, anaphylaxis, asthma, hyperventilation, hypoglycaemia, seizure management, syncope, oxygen, adult basic life support and automated external defibrillation.

 • Original UK/English version: Free of charge for academic/research use only (i.e. strictly non-commercial purposes).

 • Approval Process: All licence requests are subject to review and approval.

 • Eligibility: Academic/research licences are only granted to individuals affiliated with a university, recognised research institution or dental practice.

 • Email Requirement: Requests must be submitted using an academic or professional email address (either your own or your supervisor’s). We will reject any orders from personal email accounts (e.g. gmail, icloud or hotmail)
